                                                            Theme

             Words are food.  You are either eating gourmet words or spoiled food, covered with mold.  Ever heard of a spoiled rotten child?  That is someone who thinks, does, acts in a “moldy, rotten way”.  Through Christ our minds, thoughts, and actions can be gourmet, clean, healthy to everyone who listens to us. You see mankind does not live by bread alone but by every wholesome, pure, clean word of God..

         Deuteronomy 8:1
 Be careful to follow every command I am giving you today, so that you may live and increase and may enter and possess the land that the LORD promised on oath to your forefathers. 2 Remember how the LORD your God led you all the way in the desert these forty years, to humble you and to test you in order to know what was in your heart, whether or not you would keep his commands. 3 He humbled you, causing you to hunger and then feeding you with manna, which neither you nor your fathers had known, to teach you that man does not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of the LORD. 4 Your clothes did not wear out and your feet did not swell during these forty years. 5 Know then in your heart that as a man disciplines his son, so the LORD your God disciplines you.
The Temptation of Jesus
Matthew 4:1 Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the desert to be tempted by the devil.2 After fasting forty days and forty nights, he was hungry. 3 The tempter came to him and said, “If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread.”
4 Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God. ”
“Jesus died for me!”  That I might live free and independent of the laws made up by sinful men!!

                                                Sermon

            God’s Power!!!  1 Corinthians 1:   23 but we preach Christ crucified: a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles,
Romans 1:16
16
 I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes:………………….: “The righteous will live by faith.”

What is the gospel?  It is the power of God!  So if you want God to move, if you want to have a sound mind, morals, to be good and free from all “personal struggles or weaknesses, vices, needs,” a mind content full of peace and divine love, joy and happiness,  if you want to see miracles, if you want God’s blessings, if you want to defeat the devil and destroy the works of wicked evil men and women you must use the Gospel….. (side note: God will not bless you with money.  It is paper, worthless. God gave you the right to own property, a farm, a blacksmith shop, furniture shop, etc. “even Gold”, (it’s in the constitution), he will bless the work of your hands, fields, children, animals.  Men  live free under “Jesus Only”, the guidance of the Holy Spirit”, to work for themselves, free. God’s blessings are tremendous, he multiplies If you know God you do not need a job, for God provides for you, God makes you, “Independent” of the need to have others being your boss, provider. (Declaration of “Independence”, from greedy evil men and women, oppressors, corrupt governments, to the freedom to obey God, to obey him alone, his laws and ordinances.) Constitution, Article I, section 10:
No State shall enter into any Treaty, Alliance, or Confederation; grant Letters of Marque and Reprisal; coin Money; emit Bills of Credit; make any Thing but gold and silver Coin a Tender in Payment of Debts; pass any Bill of Attainder, ex post facto Law, or Law impairing the Obligation of Contracts, or grant any Title of Nobility.

      “Jesus died for me!!”  So when someone like President Obama, the Supreme Court, or the Congress try and “make” you do what they want you to do, you have to tell them:  “Jesus died for me”.
You must tell everyone, “Jesus died for me”.

       I am sure as soon as you read that you thought, “that is foolishness", "That is dumb", "that is stupid", etc.  When you think that the gospel is foolishness,  you can rest assured that the world, or sinful people, or the devil is controlling what you think….

Because to God and the devil, those are the most “powerful

words” in all the earth!!!: "Jesus

Died for Me!"

You will be able to freely tell the men and women of this earth what Peter said:

  Acts5:26-29
27
 Having brought the apostles, they made them appear before the Sanhedrin to be questioned by the high priest.
28 “We gave you strict orders not to teach in this name,” he said. “Yet you have filled Jerusalem with your teaching and are determined to make us guilty of this man’s blood.”
29 Peter and the other apostles replied: “We must obey God rather than men!30 The God of our fathers raised Jesus from the dead—whom you had killed by hanging him on a tree.

      That scripture goes on to say God gives his power to those who obey him.  You cannot obey the principles and powers, (men and women who tell others what to do and think), of this earth who only serve the god of ‘Money” and obey God at the same time.  To have God’s power you must tell those people, President Obama the Supreme Court, The Congress,  “Jesus died for me”  I will not obey the laws of sinful men.  I must obey God rather than men!

       The Laws of God:  I must obey are the Ten Commandments.  That is why American citizens shot other Americans who lied 100 years ago.  If you lie to me and I believe your lie, I will lose the power of God and turn towards evil instead of God.  God will stop blessing me, I would lose my free salvation…freedom, liberty, life, happiness,  I would lose my mind, also sickness would come upon me.  A sound mind equals a sound body!! Health.

You do not have anything if you do not have

your health…  Mankind has every right to defend their

minds from liars…….It is a crime to Lie!!! It is a form of Stealing, killing and destroying the rights of others…

Without the "Jesus died for me on the cross, the gospel of Salvation loses it's power to save, heal and restore.

1 Corinthians1:17-30
 but to preach the gospel—not with words of human wisdom, lest the cross of Christ be emptied of its power.

Christ the Wisdom and Power of God
18 For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. 19 For it is written:

“I will destroy the wisdom of the wise;
the intelligence of the intelligent I will frustrate”.

20 Where is the wise man? Where is the scholar? Where is the philosopher of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world21 For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not know him, God was pleased through the foolishness of what was preached to save those who believe. 22 Jews demand miraculous signs and Greeks look for wisdom, 23 but we preach Christ crucified: a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles, 24 but to those whom God has called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. 25 For the foolishness of God is wiser than man’s wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than man’s strength.

26 Brothers, think of what you were when you were called. Not many of you were wise by human standards; not many were influential; not many were of noble birth. 27 But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. 28 He chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things—and the things that are not—to nullify the things that are29 so that no one may boast before him. 30 It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God—that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption31 Therefore, as it is written: “Let him who boasts boast in the Lord.

Luke 16:
13-18  “No servant can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and Money.”
14 The Pharisees, who loved money, heard all this and were sneering at Jesus.15 He said to them, “You are the ones who justify yourselves in the eyes of men, but God knows your hearts. What is highly valued among men is detestable in God’s sight.

Additional Teachings: Conclusion

cont. Luke 16:16 “The Law and the Prophets were proclaimed until John. Since that time, the good news of the kingdom of God is being preached, and everyone is forcing his way into it. 17 It is easier for heaven and earth to disappear than for the least stroke of a pen to drop out of the Law.
18 “Anyone who divorces his wife and marries another woman commits adultery, and the man who marries a divorced woman commits adultery.

If you love money, which you do, public school does this to all of us, you despise the “foolish things” that actually give you life, health and happiness from God, like working on a farm, milking cows, hunting, plant crops, working outside, having children, cooking, cleaning, laundry. You believe in slavery, you want a maid, you want a farmer or rancher, a restaurant, to do that stuff for you.
Most divorces are caused by the “work ethic”, men and women working apart from each other, separate, “the work force”, industry,
It is gay for a man to have someone else other than God provide for him.  Women are to be provided for by the men in their family.

A place where meals are served to the public.

[French, restorative soup, restaurant, from present participle of restaurerto restore, from Old French restorer; see restore.]

Restore, so you eat to restore your strength.
         God says he will restore, everything in your life.. Partake, eat Jesus, have a meal of Christ… “Jesus died for me”.  Feeds everything in your life and will put food on your table Words feed us and Jesus is the “Word”  of God.  Take God into you,  “Jesus died you me”.”

Proverbs 4: 12-27
12....when you run, you will not stumble.
13 Hold on to instruction, do not let it go;
guard it well, for it is your life.
14 Do not set foot on the path of the wicked
or walk in the way of evil men.
15 Avoid it, do not travel on it;
turn from it and go on your way.
16 For they cannot sleep till they do evil;
they are robbed of slumber till they make someone fall.
17 They eat the bread of wickedness
and drink the wine of violence.

18 The path of the righteous is like the first gleam of dawn,
shining ever brighter till the full light of day.
19 But the way of the wicked is like deep darkness;
they do not know what makes them stumble.

20 My son, pay attention to what I say;
listen closely to my words.
21 Do not let them out of your sight,
keep them within your heart;
22 for they are life to those who find them
and health to a man’s whole body.
23 Above all else, guard your heart,
for it is the wellspring of life.
24 Put away perversity from your mouth;
keep corrupt talk far from your lips.
25 Let your eyes look straight ahead,
fix your gaze directly before you.
26 Make level paths for your feet
and take only ways that are firm.
27 Do not swerve to the right or the left;
keep your foot from evil.

Jesus the Bread of Life
John 6:25 When they found him on the other side of the lake, they asked him, “Rabbi, when did you get here?”
26 Jesus answered, “I tell you the truth, you are looking for me, not because you saw miraculous signs but because you ate the loaves and had your fill. 27 Do not work for food that spoils, but for food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you. On him God the Father has placed his seal of approval.”
28 Then they asked him, “What must we do to do the works God requires?”
29 Jesus answered, “The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent.”

John 6:32
 Jesus said to them, “I tell you the truth, it is not Moses who has given you the bread from heaven, but it is my Father who gives you the true bread from heaven.33 For the bread of God is he who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.”
John 6:34 “Sir,” they said, “from now on give us this bread.”
35 Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will never go hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty. 45 It is written in the Prophets: ‘They will all be taught by God.’Everyone who listens to the Father and learns from him comes to me. 46 No one has seen the Father except the one who is from God; only he has seen the Father. 47 I tell you the truth, he who believes has everlasting life. 48 I am the bread of life. 49 Your forefathers ate the manna in the desert, yet they died. 50 But here is the bread that comes down from heaven, which a man may eat and not die. 51 I am the living bread that came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever. This bread is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.”
52 Then the Jews began to argue sharply among themselves, “How can this man give us his flesh to eat?”
53 Jesus said to them, “I tell you the truth, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you. 54 Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day. 55 For my flesh is real food and my blood is real drink. 56 Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me, and I in him. 57 Just as the living Father sent me and I live because of the Father, so the one who feeds on me will live because of me. 58 This is the bread that came down from heaven. Your forefathers ate manna and died, but he who feeds on this bread will live forever.” 59 He said this while teaching in the synagogue in Capernaum.

Invitation to the Thirsty
Isaiah 55:1 “Come, all you who are thirsty,
come to the waters;
and you who have no money,
come, buy and eat!
Come, buy wine and milk
without money and without cost.
2 Why spend money on what is not bread,
and your labor on what does not satisfy?
Listen, listen to me, and eat what is good,
and your soul will delight in the richest of fare.
3 Give ear and come to me;
hear me, that your soul may live.
I will make an everlasting covenant with you,
my faithful love promised to David.
4 See, I have made him a witness to the peoples,
a leader and commander of the peoples.
5 Surely you will summon nations you know not,
and nations that do not know you will hasten to you,
because of the LORD your God,
the Holy One of Israel,
for he has endowed you with splendor.”

6 Seek the LORD while he may be found;
call on him while he is near.
7 Let the wicked forsake his way
and the evil man his thoughts.
Let him turn to the LORD, and he will have mercy on him,
and to our God, for he will freely pardon.

8 “For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
neither are your ways my ways,”
declares the Lord.

Modern Church, intimidated, conquered by the devil!

Isaiah 58 Ministries              1-23-2013
Pastor Leah Svensson

Scriptures:  Ephesians 2:2-3, 1Peter 4:1-4, 2 Corinthians 6:14, 2 Corinthians 6:14, 2 Corinthians 5:16,  Matthew 16:6, Titus 10:16, 2 Corinthians 10-4, John 8:31-34

Theme

Jesus commands us to go out into the world and preach the Good News of Salvation. That means to tell people that God has made a way where they can talk to him all the time, he will dwell in them and be a Father to them.  You can not talk to God if you are thinking of obeying a person or the sin that you are born into.  Because the person of sin will be your master and you will want to do those things that please your master.  In modern terms that is you want to obey your selfish desires of your own flesh, or your boss, or your parents or your spouse and even your children.  You are thinking about pleasing them, not God.  In order to talk to God you have to turn to him, you have to turn away from yourself, and others, which is all sin and start  listening to him and do what pleases him.  Because everyone is born into sin we need Jesus to save us from the fallen state.  We deserve to die because sin means to stole something from someone else and the punishment to sin is death.  So instead of dying for what you did, Jesus died for you.   God can not talk to you if he is about to kill you for what you did. You turn to Jesus see he died for you, receive a new heart, soul where you have no desire to sin but to not sin to please God your Father.  Then you go tell others the same Good News..  You are the salt of the world........ You preserve human beings, you lead them Christ so he can save them from their fallen state of a criminal mind.  You are a wimp if you do not preach this Gospel because you are afraid of others, you are in sin, following others instead of God.

Diary of a Wimpy Church
Alright, so disclaimer first. This may offend many church going folks, however that is the opposite of my intention. J I’ve got much love for ya’ll!  However, the Church, as a whole has become, well, rather wimpy. In the “olden days” a true Christian conversion was accompanied by a real heart and lifestyle change.  Ephesians 2:2 And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins, in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience, among whom also we all once conducted ourselves in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, just as the others.
Change, REAL change, marked a true, born again Christian. To be born again is a very mysterious thing. “How can a man enter into his mother’s womb?” asked one questioning teacher to Jesus. Becoming a Christian is so radical that your old life is unrecognizable, it’s like it never happened in a way for it’s not who you are anymore. Your friends who you used to sin with wonder about you.
 1 peter 4:1-4 Therefore, since Christ suffered for us[a] in the flesh, arm yourselves also with the same mind, for he who has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin, that he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh for the lusts of men, but for the will of God.For we have spent enough of our past lifetime[b] in doing the will of the Gentiles—when we walked in lewdness, lusts, drunkenness, revelries, drinking parties, and abominable idolatries. In regard to these, they think it strange that you do not run with them in the same flood of dissipation, speaking evil of you. They will give an account to Him who is ready to judge the living and the dead.
Your friends and family will have to give an account to God one day. So, do not become ridden with anger or malice when they make fun of or persecute your new beliefs but seek the Lord on their behalf so they too can come to this knowledge.
And this is where the Church runs into some really bumpy roads because of the enemy’s most recent trick on Americans: “Forgive, all the time, for everything.” This causes mass confusion and people to never really experience the fullness of Christ because in this message of forgiveness is a false sense of security.  Now, don’t get me wrong, forgiveness is powerful and necessary, but the world has hijacked the word and given it back to the Church to mean something it was never intended by Christ to mean. It doesn’t have to be though. We fall into a trap when we continue to make merry and keep the same company as we used to keep, but see, they are still sinning and you are not.
2 Corinthians 6:14 Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers [do not make mismatched alliances with them or come under a different yoke with them, inconsistent with your faith]. For what partnership have right living and right standing with God with iniquity and lawlessness? Or how can light have fellowship with darkness?
15 What harmony can there be between Christ and Belial [the devil]? Or what has a believer in common with an unbeliever?
16 What agreement [can there be between] a temple of God and idols? For we are the temple of the living God; even as God said, I will dwell in and with and among them and will walk in and with and among them, and I will be their God, and they shall be My people.
17 So, come out from among [unbelievers], and separate (sever) yourselves from them, says the Lord, and touch not [any] unclean thing; then I will receive you kindly and treat you with favor,
18 And I will be a Father to you, and you shall be My sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty.

In an effort to not appear judgmental, the Church has become weak. We don’t use the spiritual muscles the Lord gave us to BRING PEOPLE OUT OF SIN and show them how the Lord can make them into NEW CREATURES
2 Corinthians 5: 16 Consequently, from now on we estimate and regard no one from a [purely] human point of view [in terms of natural standards of value]. [No] even though we once did estimate Christ from a human viewpoint and as a man, yet now [we have such knowledge of Him that] we know Him no longer [in terms of the flesh].
17 Therefore if any person is in Christ  he is a new creation (a new creature altogether); the old [previous moral and spiritual condition] has passed away. Behold, the fresh and new has come!

I am not saying to stand on the street corner and shout “REPENT, FOR THE KINGDOM OF GOD IS AT HAND!”  Even though, John the Baptist did do this and he was a pretty cool guy, at least Jesus thought so. I am not saying to get into long debates with non Christians or even other Christians who are walking in sin. What I am saying is to let your life so shine so that all may see the change the Lord has made in you. I also say to not back down when asked a question about your change. I also don’t say to be quiet  in any circumstance where others would entice you to sin, even a little, for even a little sin can corrupt our whole being.
Matthew 16:6 Then Jesus said to them, “Take heed and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and the Sadducees… 12 Then they understood that He did not tell them to beware of the leaven of bread, but of the doctrine of the Pharisees and Sadducees.
These leaders who Jesus warned about taught an outward cleanliness but not an inward holiness. This is where most of the American Church is stuck. Not on purpose, but do to our unconstitutional laws false teaching has crept in amongst us. Most Americans WANT to do the right thing. But as long as preachers keep preaching “we all sin. I sin, you sin, we all sin.” No one is ever going to walk in the power of God that can only come from living a sin free life.
Within the catacombs of church picnics, Vacation Bible School, potlucks, and outreaches, are those who would wish to cause others to slip into sin or continue on sinning.
Titus 1:10-16 For there are many who are insubordinate, empty talkers and deceivers, especially those of the circumcision party.[a] 11 They must be silenced, since they are upsetting whole families by teaching for shameful gain what they ought not to teach. 12 One of the Cretans,[b] a prophet of their own, said, “Cretans are always liars, evil beasts, lazy gluttons.”[c] 13 This testimony is true. Therefore rebuke them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith, 14 not devoting themselves to Jewish myths and the commands of people who turn away from the truth. 15 To the pure, all things are pure, but to the defiled and unbelieving, nothing is pure; but both their minds and their consciences are defiled. 16 They profess to know God, but they deny him by their works. They are detestable, disobedient, unfit for any good work.
My desire is for Christians to start SPEAKING UP and SPEAKING OUT against those who would profess to know God but they deny him by what they do. I recently came across an article by a certain celebrity by the name of Megan Fox. In it she claims to speak in the holy tongues of the Spirit when she goes to church. I pointed out that she could possibly not be speaking of God but the devil can mimic such things as well. There were those who thought this was a wrongful judgment call, but you see, there are those who profess to know God but are detestable, disobedient, and unfit for any good work. When a person strips naked for money and then thinks nothing of it. When they curse and women talk perversely of having sexual desires for other women in an unashamed way, it’s not good. Paul publically points out a whole group of people as being lazy, evil beasts, and gluttons. There is a power in what he was saying, to keep his followers from falling into the same mess. We need to have a back bone back as a Church and start to speak out against such unholy behavior, especially in those who call themselves believers, and especially teachers.
Now, I do not advocate making waves with every Tom, Dick, and Harry walking down the street. Nor, is it seemly to point out every fault in every person around you. But when someone is in sin around you, you need to understand that they are captive and a prisoner. The idea is not to get angry and get in fighting matches, but to recognize the spiritual aspect at work. If you want someone who believes abortion is okay to see that the baby in the womb is precious and always to be protected, then you pray. First, you clean out your own life and make sure you are not in sin, then you will see clearly to help out your brother or sister in Christ, or even set a sinner free. Don’t let ANY lie stay in your head. When they speak lies you have to combat them.
2 Corinthians 10: 4 For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds,casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, and being ready to punish all disobedience when your obedience is fulfilled.
When we speak the truth, in love and humility, it has power. When we are afraid of offending or appearing judgmental, we lose that power and our words become of no effect. The surest way of winning someone to Christ who wants to be won, is to stand your ground, neither angry or arrogant, but firm in the truth. Sin is sin, when we come to Christ we cease from sin. Old things are passed away and all things become BRAND SPANKIN NEW!  This is the Gospel, this will set people free, and free forever.
John 8: 31 So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed him, “If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, 32 and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” 33 They answered him, “We are offspring of Abraham and have never been enslaved to anyone. How is it that you say, ‘You will become free’?”
34 Jesus answered them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, everyone who practices sin is a slave 2 to sin.35 The slave does not remain in the house forever; the son remains forever. 36 So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.

While on our bike trip we were blessed to have many conversations with people about the Lord. The cool thing was, we never had to bring God up, others always did. We kept coming across so many renegades in the Body of Christ, those who were outcasts in the Church who had left because they were gravely hurt by pastors or others. One couple had worked with a pastor for a long time and raised $10,000 for a missions trip, only to have the pastor take the money and run. Another woman was sexually accosted by her pastor. The list goes on. How do we help these people? We help them by identifying criminals, rooting out sin, and standing up for the weak and abused. I know one lady whose family travelled around as a singing group that her father led, but he molested her until she got married at the young age of 17.  We have become wimpy, my fellow Christians, too afraid to stand up and point out sinful behavior, too afraid to make waves. Well, folks, fear has torment and is not of the Lord. We need to spend time with the Lord and have spiritual discernment to rescue those in need and not let these abuses continue. We cannot create a safe haven for those who want to continue to practice sin and by practice it means something that is worked at and put effort into.
In love, we restore one another, in meekness, in humility. But we need to muscle up and not be afraid to speak out against sin.
