a time of trouble, such as never was since there began to be a nation.
Jesus Christ God's Messiah was Crucified.
When reading scripture we need to read it from God's perspective. I prayed about this scripture the answers was: The Greatest man to ever walk on the face of this earth. A very very good man, a King, a sinless king, a perfect man. There was no corruption in him.  The wisest, the most intelligent, a man who spoke with power and authority who had the power and authority to forgiven sins, and bring healing, salvation, deliverance to people, God himself is going to be falsely accused, beaten to death, tried wrongfully, convicted and crucified.
There is no greater time of trouble.

And I heard the man clothed in linen, who was above the waters of the river, when he held up his right and his left hand toward the heavens and swore by Him Who lives forever that it shall be for a time, times, and a half a time [or three and one-half years]; and when they have made an end of shattering and crushing the power of the holy people, all these things shall be finished.    Jesus had given the disciples power while he was with them to do miracles.
Jesus died and the disciples lost that power. So for 50 days the disciples were in fear.
