On Halloween you have the GREATEST opportunity of ALL YEAR to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ. How? There is NO darker day on the American or almost world wide, calendar. If I were to light a match in the middle of a sunny day- no one would see me- but on Halloween, evil and darkness, blood, ghosts, witches are all celebrated. Darkness falls over our country. All you need to do is light one match and the whole world will look at you. Don't be like the young women who let their oil run out and were not allowed into Heaven. Fill up those lamps with the Word of God, the Gospel. Seek the Lord on how you can spread the Gospel- at Halloween, it's sooo easy, you turn the tables on the devil and use his darkness as a way to show people the light!
To say that you want people to stop telling you Halloween is evil because that is negative- is an oxymoron..Halloween is evil, evil is negative.
Without being renewed in Christ, (turning to God through the gospel), we are all held captive to sin and death. (Halloween), You can no more say no to Halloween than a bee can say no to honey. Or a fly on poop.
This is the power of Christ's Gospel. He came to set you free!
Jesus replied, "Very truly I tell you, everyone who sins is a slave to sin.A slave is not a permanent member of the family, but a son is part of the family forever. So if the Son sets you free, you are truly free. John 8:34-36
The Parable of the Wise and Foolish Virgins
25 “Then the kingdom of heaven shall be likened to ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. 2 Now five of them were wise, and five were foolish.3 Those who were foolish took their lamps and took no oil with them, 4 but the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps. 5 But while the bridegroom was delayed, they all slumbered and slept.
6 “And at midnight a cry was heard: ‘Behold, the bridegroom is coming;[a] go out to meet him!’ 7 Then all those virgins arose and trimmed their lamps. 8 And the foolish said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.’ 9 But the wise answered, saying, ‘No, lest there should not be enough for us and you; but go rather to those who sell, and buy for yourselves.’ 10 And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the wedding; and the door was shut.
11 “Afterward the other virgins came also, saying, ‘Lord, Lord, open to us!’ 12 But he answered and said, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, I do not know you.’
13 “Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour[b] in which the Son of Man is coming.
Tell me what you see all around you during Halloween? You see DEATH,
bloody skulls, naked girls in skimpy costumes.
The trick or treat we have today
was instituted to stop teenagers from vandalizing on this night- a tradition brought
over in the mid 1800's by the wave of Scot- Irish who were descendants of the
Druids. The pumpkin carving comes directly from a demonic ritual to keep evil
spirits away. With Halloween you have the combination of 2 evils
Rebellion is as sinful as witchcraft, and stubbornness as bad as worshiping idols. 1 Samuel 15:23 The words "trick or treat" are not simple silly words- they come from bad kids who would do bad things to people- or a reference to leaving treats on the porch so that evil spirits would not put a curse on the house.
Jewish people covered their doorways with the blood of a lamb to keep the spirit of death away that killed all the first born in Egypt. This was very real. As Christians we plead the blood of Jesus over our home for safety, blessing, and protection.
The earliest reference of the term “trick or treat” in print was in 1927, in Alberta, Canada. It appears as if the practice didn’t really take hold in the U.S. until the mid-1930s, where it was not always well received. The demanding of a treat angered or puzzled some adults.
Supposedly, in a Halloween parade in 1948 in New York, the Madison Square Boys Club carried a banner sporting the message “American Boys Don’t Beg.”
When you drive through neighborhoods do you see what I see during Halloween? Well, I pass a tree full of skulls with giant bloody hooks in the eyes. I pass more skeletons then I can count. I see ghosts and signs that say Best Witches. Of course, the carved pumpkins in demonic and twisted faces. I see graves with sick RIPs written on them. Halloween appeals to the wickedness in us. Grown women dress up like hookers (Christian women). Men put fake blood on their faces and fake knives through their heads. Many people don't like strangers knocking on their door demanding candy. I know so many people that do not trick or treat in their own neighborhood because they don't give out "good candy," but many parents drive their children to "the good places." Seriously? Please do not say it's about community. If your neighborhood gets together, how wonderful- only those who want to participate should show up and candy or treats should only be given to good children, not children who say 'trick or treat.'

If the spirit of Christmas is Christ, the spirit of Halloween is
Death. The devil comes to "Steal, Kill, and Destroy." But Jesus said
"I have come to bring you LIFE and LIFE more
abundantly." Christians
cannot reconcile Halloween and
the Gospel, simply because, as Christians, we proclaim CHRIST OVERCAME DEATH!!
Whoo hoo! Praise God! A Christian can no more send their child up to a home
with gravestones and bloody skulls than a snowman can last in hell. Now, this is mostly warning Christians.
Christianity is not about open mindedness. Jesus said in verse 6; Jesus answered, “I am
the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through
me. John 14:6
If you are not made new in Christ, you have no protection from the evil devices out there. If you participate in the holiday of death, you can allow the demonic realm to enter in your life. There is no way to sugar coat it. Without being renewed in Christ, (turning to God through the gospel), we are all held captive to sin and death. You can no more say no to Halloween than a bee can say no to honey. Or a fly on poop.

There are many many other scriptures which deal directly with pagan gatherings such as Halloween. You need to be careful what you send your children into.
Please read 1 Corinthians 8 where Paul talks about not eating food sacrificed to idols and 1 Corinthians 10. You can eat Halloween candy or whatever, if your conscious is not defiled by it. But what of those weaker Christians? Demons, ghosts, evil is ALL OVER THOSE BAGS people buy. A Christian would be better off putting graves with people coming out alive like when Christ was killed on the cross.
Druid sacrifice for Halloween |
See, if Christians had taken a pagan holiday and turned it around to worship Christ and started giving to people as a result of converting 1,000's of Druids and those who participated in witchcraft- hey, we should be all for that too.
However, Halloween never got to that point. It STAYED PAGAN- If you wanted to celebrate All Saints Day and participate in begger's night where poor people went door to door for food in exchange for prayers- hey, no one would really say anything. But that is not what Halloween is, is it?
"Well, Christmas started out pagan too"...uh, not really, and yes, kinda.
Does anyone know what
an oxymoron is? It's a combination of words that have opposite or very
different meanings. To say that you want people to stop telling you Halloween
is evil because that is negative- is an oxymoron..Halloween is evil, evil is negative.
During Christmas, do you know what I see a lot of? Jesus, Mary, Joseph in a manger scene. I support Christmas, even though it has pagan roots because there really was a St. Nick and Jesus' name and Salvation is sung in every store- people are kinder, more giving, and help one another out because the Spirit of Christ- hence, Christmas, is allowed to come forth- as it should all year, however, our secular society has pushed Christ into a 2 month window. I'll take what I can get and pray for more. The Bible says "If they are not for us, they are against us." I'd never stop anyone from praising Christ, EVER!
Luk 2:9 And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone roundabout them: and they were sore afraid. Luk 2:10 And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. Luk 2:11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. Luk 2:12 And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. Luk 2:13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God,and saying,Luk 2:14 Glory to God in the highest, and on

The Workers Are Few35 Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and sickness.36 When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. 37 Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. 38 Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.” |
