Blog Is Donald Trump A TYRANT OR Is the Media Playing Fast & Loose With Their Reporting?

I do better writing things out. A dear friend of mine sent me a link to a very anti Trump article from last year by the Cato Institute as asked me to take a look at it. She said she was doing some Googling, which she admitted is "always dangerous" and stumbled across this article. She said that she was intrigued  but wanted to make sure she wasn't just viewing it through a bias lens. She said she prayed about it and that it confirmed with her spirit and asked me to take a look at it. I did and while I don't have time to go over it point by point, I will highlight a few red flags that tell me the person who wrote the article had a misalignment with the truth. I wonder now that the DOJ has dropped all charges on Michael Flynn once William Barr looked at the case and found the FBI handwritten notes specifically saying the agents did not believe Flynn was trying to lie or be mistruthful? Or, like all good slanders that go down in history, will they leave that part of their article up?

https://www.cato.org/blog/king-george-iii-or-donald-trump-reading-declaration-independence-2019

In the Book of Exodus Moses is given 10 main commandments, one of which I think most people see as redundant. Of course we all know "thou shalt not lie," but very few people know the gravity of "thou shalt not bare false witness."
To bare false witness is to falsely accuse someone of something they did not do. The results of lying about someone before authorities who can punish someone are grave and the position of accuser should not be taken lightly.

The CATO article is full of accusations, baring witness. And yet, anyone on the right who has been following even one or two cases mentioned in the article will know the author is out to defame, he is baring false witness. The problem with sharing articles when we do not do our own research is that we also can be guilty of baring false witness.

My friend knows how much I honor our founding fathers, and presumably the Declaration of Independence- which I take as a sacred document and the charges laid out against King George as honorable and necessitating a bloody war that cost men and women what the founders said they pledged to one another "our lives, fortunes, and sacred honor." I understand when people make comparisons to events that happened in history but we must be careful not to use historical events, especially ones such as the Revolution, and the Holocaust in such a way that gives rise to watering down the gravity of Valley Forge or Nazi Concentration camps.

So let's take a dive into some of the accusations against not just Donald Trump, but immigration enforcers, military personal, and others who are caught up in the anti Trump tirade in a diabolical comparison to one of the greatest documents of all time, the Declaration of Independence

The premise of the article is that Donald Trump is acting like King George 111, which if you did take that view, you better get your musket ready and at hand because people fought and died over such weighty matters. I do not believe that most thinking people can look at the Revolution and look at Donald Trump and say "yes, I have troops quarted in my house, I am being taxed without being represented (I actually agree but that's not Donald Trump's fault, I believe Washington is corrupt). For better or worse, we have elected officials that are supposed to represent us. Whether they do or not is a case by case basis. But I digress. Hyperbole can be a useful visual tool, but when hyperbole "Trump is like King George" becomes a factual narrative to a person, things can get dangerous in a hurry. That is what we are seeing in the violent uprisings of Antifa all over the country from Portland to Seattle where innocent people are being hurt, killed, and businesses are suffering as monuments get pulled out and full on combat over a Federal Court house.

From the article "But if you take the time before tomorrow’s “Bonfires and Illuminations” to read through the Declaration of Independence’s long list of abuses committed by King George III and British officials in 1776, it is impossible not to hear in those same words a ringing indictment of the Trump administration in 2019.

Here are a few of the most biting passages for modern ears:
"He [King George] has refused his Assent to Laws, the most wholesome and necessary for the public good."

“He has forbidden his Governors to pass Laws of immediate and pressing importance, unless suspended in their operation till his Assent should be obtained; and when so suspended, he has utterly neglected to attend to them.”

The author then goes onto cite Trump's veto of the Budget. Seriously....I literally facepalmed all through this article. King George was not held to any sort of Constitutional law. Let us go back to third grade, there are three branches of government.
Judicial
Legislative
Executive
The Constitution gives the president veto power, a power which every president has had the right to veto bills. If you want to use the threat of veto as a reason to call Trump a tyrant, you'll need to do some name calling to past presidents
1 Calvin Coolidge 50x (30 pocket vetoes and 20 regular, 4 of which were overturned by Congress),
2. Gerald Ford  (48 regular vetoes and 18 pocket), 12 of which were overturned.
3. Ronald Regan 78 vetoes (39 regular and 39 pocket; 9 overridden
4. Teddy Roosevelt 42 regular, 40 pocket; 1 overridden)
5. Ulysses S Grant 93 vetoes (45 regular, 48 pocket; 4 overridden)
6. Dwight Eisenhower (73 regular, 108 pocket; 2 overridden)
7. Harry Truman 250 vetoes (180 regular, 70 pocket; 12 overridden

How many Times has Trump used his veto power? 8x... Trump is a very bad tyrant
https://www.senate.gov/legislative/vetoes/TrumpDJ.htm

The author had a beef with Trump "threatening" to veto the budget of 2018, he doesn't mention the radical PORK spending he was trying to get out of the budget. And it was my hero, Rand Paul, that actually held up the budget because- IT'S NOT THE GOVERNMENT'S JOB TO GET YOU FREE STUFF. If the author were truly Libertarian, they would have been behind Trump's veto threat. However, the Cato Institute may have a few good articles are war powers, but otherwise it is a big government (read not Libertarian) neo Conservative think tank that serves big business at the expense of the little guy. I digress. Sen. Rand Paul stalls vote on budget bill: ‘Government’s job is not to get you stuff’
He called out Republicans "Rand Paul: "I want people [lawmakers] to feel uncomfortable. I want them to have to answer people at home who said 'How come you were against President Obama's deficits, and then how come you're for Republican deficits?' Isn't that the very definition of intellectual dishonesty?"
Rand Paul is well known for finding the obscure craziness packed into our Federal Budget- Billions going to find out things like "are drunk fish more aggressive then sober fish"
If you have never read Rand Paul's national Festivus Day, Airing of Grievances, you are missing out my friend.
With a national deficit of 23 Trillion, any good libertarian would say "enough is enough..."

The second area of tyranny the author finds in Trump is immigration. He quotes  "He has endeavoured to prevent the population of these States; for that purpose obstructing the Laws for Naturalization of Foreigners; refusing to pass others to encourage their migrations hither, and raising the conditions of new Appropriations of Lands." He then goes on to say
"
One of the reasons why the Trump administration opposes immigration is the fear that migrants will support Democratic politicians rather than Republicans. Although it is a self-fulfilling prophecy, migration from Central America has indeed played an important role in turning formerly red states into blue or purple states, shifting the balance of partisan power. The GOP’s own retrospective report after the 2012 election called for the party to embrace comprehensive immigration reform or else risk political suicide as the declining party of white resentment in a majority-minority future.

Trump’s attempts to seal off the border—while they may ultimately be as futile as the Royal Proclamation of 1763—have outraged those states that have benefited the most from immigration. Indeed, the naturalization process in those states—measured by, for example, the ability to acquire legal documents like drivers’ licenses—is much quicker and more certain than the federal naturalization process."
The author is touting a Koch brother narrative- more immigration for slave labor. We have to call it like it is. "States that have benefitted" are those who use people for cheap wages such as crop pickers in states like California. Any good Libertarian would be against such abuses of human kind. What the author also lays bare is the fact that the democrats are using immigration for political purposes.
We have laws in America that all must abide by and if you are not a current American citizen, you must go through the border legally.
#1. illegal immigration actually hurts African Americans, who are sometimes vying for the same jobs but can't get by by putting 25 people in an apartment to send a check down to South America https://www.americanthinker.com/articles/2019/08/illegal_immigration_hurts_black_workers_most.html
https://dailycaller.com/2017/02/21/civil-rights-leader-illegal-immigrants-hurt-the-black-community/
#2. Open border means more sex trafficking  and human trafficking "These traffickers in turn victimize the migrants themselves, many of whom die in transit, are sexually assaulted, or even end up sexually trafficked. Women are raped and girls are sold. Unfortunately, few of the traffickers are prosecuted. Just 526 traffickers were convicted in 2018. This rampant, unrestricted human trafficking is the real crisis at the border, and it’s past time to address it.
The solution to the scourge of human trafficking has two parts.
The first, of course, is to secure our border. Reform will fail so long as our porous border keeps inviting traffickers to ply their trade unhindered. Men, women, and children will continue to die in the desert, abandoned by traffickers who squeezed them for every dollar.
Thankfully, the Trump administration is focused on building a border wall. Mile after mile of new barriers are going up to replace ineffective structures, with plans in place to build 450 to 500 miles of barrier by the end of next year. By keeping his campaign promise, President Trump is laying the groundwork for the other reforms we need to staunch the flow of human trafficking.
The next step toward ending human trafficking is to fairly and uniformly enforce our asylum laws.
There are many pathways to legal entry, and asylum is merely one of them. The guidelines are very clear: Asylum is offered to migrants who are fleeing a credible threat from their own government. And that threat must be based on one of five factors: race, religion, nationality, membership in a particular social group, or political opinion.
Here’s who doesn’t qualify for asylum: those fleeing impoverished or violent countries and those looking for better economic opportunities for themselves and their families. This doesn’t mean there’s no pathway for them to lawfully enter our country, it just means they don’t quality for asylum.
But here’s where the scam that human traffickers have been running comes in.
#3 Open Borders lead to dead and drug addicted Americans
Data on drug seizures at the U.S. border indicate an alarming volume of trafficking taking place in recent years. Since 2009, heroin seizures at the southwestern border have almost tripled, while meth seizures quintupled through 2014. Worse yet, cocaine and marijuana remain two of the most commonly seized drugs along our southern borders, equating to millions of pounds seized by U.S. Border Patrol.
These figures help paint the broader landscape of drug overdose and abuse reaching record levels in the United States. In this report we’ll examine the scale of substance seizures and the increase in trafficking over the last decade to gain a better understanding of how trafficking of illicit drugs has influenced the growing drug problem in America. https://drugabuse.com/featured/drug-trafficking-across-borders/
This one is personal to me and my family as we have worked with and ministered to many current and ex addicts. Some get started on pain pills and move on to the drugs that destroy their lives- the majority of those drugs come over the southern border on human "mules" packed by the vicious Mexican drug cartels

The next point the Cato author tries to make is just an absurd correlation He has affected to render the Military independent of and superior to the Civil Power."

"For protecting [soldiers], by a mock Trial from punishment for any Murders which they should commit on the Inhabitants of these States."
He mentions  Lt. Michael Behenna who Oklahoma Attorney General Mike Hunter has repeatedly petitioned the White House for clemency, writing to Attorney General Bill Barr last month that Behenna’s conviction was predicated on improper procedure by prosecutors.
The White House cited Hunter’s support in its announcement, adding, “while serving his sentence, Mr. Behenna was a model prisoner. In light of these facts, Mr. Behenna is entirely deserving of this Grant of Executive Clemency.”
White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders cited "broad support" for Michael Behenna, of Edmond, Okla., "from the military, Oklahoma elected officials, and the public" -- including 37 generals and admirals, along with a former Pentagon inspector general -- as the reason for Trump's clemency grant. Sanders also said Behenna had been a "model prisoner" while serving his sentence.
"In light of these facts, Mr. Behenna is entirely deserving of this Grant of Executive Clemency," Sanders concluded.
37 General and Admirals asked for his pardon or clemency and yet Trump is King George? No, not buying it and people randomly share articles like this need to know that they are not just inditing Trump, but those in the article like Behenna, without all the facts. They are baring false witness against their fellow American to "get at Trump." This is wrong.

The next person the author goes after is General Michael Flynn. If you are at all familiar with our show, you will know that from 2016 we have been uncovering the facts about the railroading and criminal prosecution of General Flynn, and by criminal prosecution I'm referring to the PROSECUTORS as the criminals. I really don't have time to go into every single detail about how the Obama Administration and top officials used their last few months in office to set up an amazing servant to this country and attempt to take him down. If not for his new lawyer Sidney Powell, and reporters that actually care about FACTS such as Kimberly Strassell from the Wall Street Journel, Flynn's name would be marred for history. The good news is that Flynn is being exonerated and the truth is coming out. Will the Cato author fix their article to go after the "other side?" I think not. Their hatred for Trump has blinded them to any and all facts. They WANT to believe Trump and all around him are horrible and so they will only listen and repeat that which confirms their bias.
I believe this case against Flynn will go down in history alright- as that time when all the top officials in government from the DOJ, FBI, CIA, conspired to take down and honorable man and they got caught.
If there is a resounding theme around the set up of retired Army Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn it may be that if politically-motivated government officials can set up a three-star general serving as the White House national security adviser, the average Joe doesn’t stand a chance.
As egregious as events may be, Wall Street Journal columnist Kimberley Strassel laid out the details in a manner sure to get the blood boiling of fair-minded Americans.Bombshell documents unsealed this week revealed that the goal of top FBI officials in interviewing Flynn in 2017 was to “get him to lie, so we can prosecute him or get him fired.”The documents included a handwritten note showing agents wanted to get Flynn to “admit breaking the Logan Act,” an arcane federal law that restricts communication between private citizens and foreign governments. In a series of tweets, Strassel detailed the outrageous actions of FBI officials involved in setting up Flynn and effectively destroying his life and storied career in service to his country.Bureau officials that included the Trump-hating FBI lovebirds Peter Strzok and Lisa Page — Strzok was fired after his extramarital affair with Page was exposed.“To really understand how outrageous are these new Flynn docs, you have to add to everything we already know. And key is remembering that the FBI had no REASON to interview Flynn. It already had transcripts of his conversations with Kislyak,” Strassel began.
Stassel points out that the new documents show that the FBI had already cleared Flynn of “ludicrous claims” he was agent of Russia and was moving to close its investigation on him, before the Justice Department “cooked up the absurd Logan Act claim.”
But even there, Strassel observed, they “knew such ridiculousness would never fly.”Their answer was to “trap him into saying something at odds” with the transcript, Strassel noted, to “get him to lie,” as the note on the document stated.
A strategy that disgraced former FBI director James Comey was involved in, as she laid out. then detailed the cast of characters, aka “dirty cops,” who acted deceptively to keep Flynn unsuspecting of the trap being laid.

Flynn was set up, he was innocent and I along with 1,000's of others have been yelling from the rafters. So when Trump joins in to expose the lies of the enemy we cheer! Obama, Susan Rice, and Biden, to name a few, THEY were the real King Georges in this case. They wanted Flynn out for many reasons, but the big one was Syria.
During the transition, it is said Obama gave Trump two pieces of advice on whom he considered to be the current greatest threats to the United States, so the new president could be forearmed—Kim Jong-un and Michael Flynn.by the time Trump was elected, it was already under heavy criticism due to the Islamic Republic’s violent activities in the Syrian civil war and elsewhere, arming Hezbollah, Hamas, the Houthis and other proxies with moneys that came via America and—naive as it now sounds—were supposed to be for the improvement of the lives of the Iranian people.
Flynn was known to have been one of the most adamant opponents of the Iran Deal within the Obama administration in the first place and, with his military record as a three-star general plus aforementioned intelligence expertise, perhaps the most powerful one.
So bringing down Flynn was a two-for, striking a blow at the new president while hopefully helping to preserve the Iran Deal. The second part didn’t work, but the first did… for a while. https://theduran.com/why-michael-flynn-was-set-up/
I could go on for days about Flynn. My blood boils every time I think about what the outgoing Obama administration did to this man, a Christian, a patriot, and a guy who wanted to end our involvement with foreign regime change. A man who saw on the ground how we, America, were arming the enemy and how the "rebels" in Syria were no better than ISIS and very often we funded ISIS. Michelle and I have done many videos on Syria, the fake White Helmets, the faked chemical attacks but probably our most important and widely viewed was the video we did exposing the propaganda of main stream media to support this diabolical war. Enter puppet, Bana Alabed

Finally, in what I really gave a hearty chuckle to, the Cato author took issue with Trump's tariffs
He quotes the Declaration
""For cutting off our Trade with all parts of the world."

"For imposing Taxes on us without our Consent."

He then goes on to say that tariffs are the taxes without consent. I would simply say this is laughable and move on but many need a short primer on exactly what tariffs are and what their original purpose was in America. Imagine a world where you didn't pay ANY income tax? Imagine a world where, as an American artist, manufacturer, or farmer, your government made sure that you were protected from cheaply imported goods, many made by, produced by, or grown by slave labor or people in horrible working conditions...well, you'd be living in America the way the founding fathers intended.

The two lines quoted HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH TARIFFS.

One of the issues that turned my ears to Trump was that he wanted every parent to educate their child the way they saw fit- including vouchers for not just private schools but homeschooling...the other one was his stance on tariffs. As an early American history buff and as someone who despise the creation of the Federal Reserve and Income Tax in 1913, I was intrigued at this throw back to what historically has set America apart and made her successful

I think Buck Sexton does a fantastic job laying  out that

America Was Built on Tariffs

"These days, tariffs are treated like a bad word. They are to be avoided, condemned, and shunned. Tweed-clad economists get visibly agitated when discussing them on television. Think-tankers in the Acela corridor scoff at them as a “tax on consumers” that “makes us poorer.” And because President Trump has made tariffs a central piece of his economic agenda – especially in our relationship with China – they have become a hot button political issue too." In fact, if it weren’t for tariffs, there probably wouldn’t be a United States of America.
The Founding Fathers went to war because of “taxation without representation,” but much of the colonists’ frustrations also came from tariffs.
18th century Britain’s mercantilism dictated that its colonies were to be a source of raw goods, not finished products. This led to Parliament passing the Molasses Act of 1733 and the Sugar Act of 1764, intended to protect domestic industry on the British Isles. It was the new tax contained in the Stamp Act of 1765 that was finally too much for the colonists to bear, but tariffs had built up their resentment for decades.
Finally pushed over the edge, America had a revolution, George Washington kicked King George’s men out of Yorktown, and a new nation was born. But guess what the new government turned its attention to in 1789? The second official act – right after oaths of office – that the new Congress took was passing the following legislation:
“Whereas it is necessary for that support of government, for the discharge of the debts of the United States, and the encouragement and protection of manufactures, that duties be laid on goods, wares and merchandise”
Tariffs! The very first law the American Congress ever passed was to raise revenue (it feels like nothing has changed). This isn’t all that surprising given the large debts the new nation had from its war for independence. Under the Articles of Confederation, there was no mechanism for the federal government to directly raise money. It had to go to the states and basically ask for cash. Unsurprisingly, this was insufficient to fund the government.
None of this is to say that tariffs were uncontroversial, even among the founders. Alexander Hamilton was for them, whereas Thomas Jefferson was against them. This split between an agricultural economy in the South that wanted something closer to free trade and a growing industrial economy in the North would continue to be a source of tension all the way up the Civil War and played a role in the causes of the war itself.
As we know, the North won that fight and Congress soon passed all kinds of tariffs, all the way up to the Great Depression in 1929. Until federal income tax came about in 1913, almost all federal government income came via these tariffs. It was tariffs that quite literally funded the government. And it wasn’t until after World War II that America really embraced the doctrine of free trade."
The author ends his exposition on fictional tyranny with his real point... he just really doesn't like Trump. And guess what, that's okay! I don't need people to like Trump and I don't attempt to try to convince those who have moral misgivings about Trump but the facts are facts. Lies posed as truth don't make them truth, they are just twisted lies.
Trump is not some evil dictator sent up from the bowels of hell. He was quite popular and famous before he ran for president. Rappers all put him in his songs. He helped fund Jesse Jackson's run for president. Everyone in Hollywood loved him. And then he started espousing some rather Conservative and Libertarian views. School Choice? Vouchers for homeschooling? Pulling us out of Syria and ending endless wars? Wait a minute...Now you are telling me he's joined the pro-lifers and is going to put justices on the Supreme Court that could overturn Roe V Wade? Nope, can't have any of that...enter the Lie About Trump 24/7 media to brainwash the public.
Samuel Clemens said that "a lie will get you 1/2 way around the world before the truth can get it's boots on." This has never been more true then the crazy lies of the left and mainstream media ever since 2016. So many lies that when you wake up to on, like Brandon Straka, a gay barber from New York who VEHEMENTLY HATED TRUMP, you may start a whole movement called WalkAway... Brandon walked away from the hate Trump media when he watched a video showing that no, Trump did not mock a disabled reporter. Millions have seen Brandon's awakening and 1,000's have joined his campaign.
Take a few minutes, take an hour or two and watch some testimonials of people who have woken up to the lies and manipulation of the media. This is a spiritual battle.
And while you are at it, just read a few from the #walkaway facebook group
